In 2021 and 2022, GWP has supported Nicaragua's Government of Reconciliation and National Unity (GRUN) and its Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in the consultation process for the elaboration of an IWRM Action Plan (2022-2026). The IWRM Action Plan formulates priority measures that respond to challenges in water resources management, based on sector needs and taking into account the results of the SDG 6.5.1 assessment in 2020, and in line with national water resources, environmental, forestry and climate change policies and strategies.
The result is an Action Plan consisting of 15 strategic action areas. The action planning process was supported by the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme.
