Updated Nationally Determined Contribution: Uzbekistan

|
Description / Abstract

Uzbekistan acceded to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 20 June 1993. It has submitted three National Communications, the First Biennial update report (2021), and Inventory Reports for 1990-2017. The Fourth National Communications draft is in progress. Uzbekistan has amended and expanded its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement up to 2030, considering the country's transition to a resource-efficient "green" development model based on decarbonization and ongoing socio-economic reforms. Uzbekistan has set a target to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP by 35% by 2030. The updated NDC emphasizes the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy while recognizing the importance of structural reforms to ensure the long-term feasibility of these policies.
