The Valuing Water Initiative (VWI), launched by the Dutch Government, aims to showcase the implementation of the Valuing Water Principles (VWP) to bring systemic change in how water is valued in policy, practice, finance and behaviour and to inspire others to do the same. The Initiative is focusing on the opportunity to inform the UN 2023 Water Conference about progress made across Africa. In the run up to the Conference, regional and global preparatory events will take place, including a Valuing Water session in person on February 14th in Cape Town, South Africa.
In this context, the VWI with the support of Deltares and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) is organizing a preparatory webinar focused on introducing the VWP and exchanging knowledge and experiences on how these can be applied in Africa, and how these can strengthen the consolidation of commitments ahead of the UN 2023 Water conference.

La Valuing Water Initiative (VWI), lancée par le gouvernement néerlandais, vise à présenter la mise en œuvre des principes de valorisation de l'eau (VWP) pour apporter un changement systémique dans la façon dont l'eau est valorisée dans les politiques, les pratiques, les finances et le comportement et pour inspirer les autres à faire le même. L'Initiative vise à informer la Conférence des Nations Unies sur l'eau 2023 sur les progrès réalisés à travers l'Afrique. Dans le cadre de cette initiative, nous organisons un webinaire préparatoire axé sur l'Afrique subsaharienne qui:
- Présentera la Valuing Water Initiative et les VWP, et pour un échange des expériences et des leçons apprises ;
- Permettra de débattre sur comment l’adoption des VWP peut renforcer la consolidation d’engagements individuels et collectifs afin de prendre de meilleures décisions ayant un impact sur l'eau ; et
- Présentera les prochaines étapes vers la Conférence des Nations Unies sur l'eau 2023 et au-delà.
